Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III
The Manhattan Project

Grade: B

Reviewer: Agent K

Company: Konami 1992

Rarity: Little Bit Rare (B-)

Expertise: Beat this sucker.

This is the sequel of Turtles 2 which was based on the arcade game. Your goal is pretty straightforward, walk along the levels, kill everything you see, and then save your gal pal April. The best feature of the game is the 2 player simultaneous mode. Here you and a buddy can team up and whoop some butt together. The game is very fun, but there isn't much to it. Just mash those buttons and kill, kill, kill. I find that Donatello and Leonardo are my favorite turtles, as they seem to have longer weapons, but just pick your favorite and have at it.

Positives:

Nice graphics and a fun time.

Glaring Negatives:

Not many options or features.

Graphics and Sound: Good

The graphics are quite good. The backgrounds are very nice and the end guys are all cool looking.

Gameplay and Controls: Good

The gameplay is very smooth. There isn't much to go wrong with though just hit A or B and whack those bad guys. The only annoying thing is accidentally using your special move, which actually hurts you one bar. The special move is activated using A and B together.

Features: Not much

This is the part of the review that hurts the game's overall grade. There just aren't enough features. There are no powerups, very rarely is there any pizza, and you're just hitting the same button all game long. The only cool feature are the 2 player modes talked about later on. This would be one of the best games if there was a little more too it.

Fun?: Lots

This is definitely a fun game, especially with another player.

Challenge: Pretty Hard

The levels aren't too hard, but the end guys are pretty tough. You have to figure out there patterns and having a second player helps a lot.

Replay: Decent Amount

Until you beat the game there is a lot of replay value, but once you beat it there isn't too much. There aren't any features to keep you coming back.

2 Player: Great

This is the best part of Turtles 3. There are 2 modes, one where you can hit your partner (A) and one where you cannot (B). It's a lot of fun to roam around with your buddy and kick some butt.

Online Manual?: Yup

There are manuals available online and also a nice faq.

Bottom Line: Sure

This is a fun if difficult game. There isn't a lot to keep you coming back, but the initial run through can be a blast. Also it's a NES game and should be found pretty cheaply.
