RPG
Games Ranked

The NES has some pretty sweet RPG
games. 4 Dragon Warriors alone are pretty darn good, throw in 2
Wizardrys, Bard’s Tale, and, of course, Final Fantasy and wow lookout.
Ranking them is probably premature as we have only beaten five of them,
but here we go anyway. For now we are defining an RPG as one with no
action. For instance no Zelda.
There are many other fine RPGs which unfortunately we do not have
the time to work through. Hopefully
in our golden years or this summer we will have time to play and master
them all!!

Agent J and K's Rankings
- Dragon Warrior III – DWIII takes all the great elements
of Final Fantasy and combines them with the best stuff from the
first two Dragon Warrior games.
It’s also the concluding chapter for the original Dragon
Warrior story.
- Final Fantasy - This one started ‘em all. There
would be none of that Full Motion Video crap, without the great
gameplay of the original and its successors.
- Dragon
Warrior II – This Dragon Warrior is generally
dismissed but we consider it an improvement over the first.
- Dragon Warrior - With only one character this game
is a bit limited but still darn fun.
- Destiny of an Emperor - This is a decent RPG. You can
recruit many different generals but the massive amount of names is confusing.
- Wizardry 2 – Pretty good no frills, dungeon crawler RPG
- Bard's Tale – So so RPG
- Ultima: Exodus – Ouch, this
game is old school. The first
RPG released on the NES and it looks like it could have been
released on the Intellivision.
- Swords and Serpents - One of the worst games I've
played. 4 players can play together though, which could possibly on
some other planet make this game fun.
Unranked and Unplayed:
- Dragon
Warrior IV
- Wizardry
- Might
and Magic – Though it was great on the PC
- Advanced
Dungeons and Dragons: Pool of Radiance
- Legend
of Ghost Lion
- Ultima:
Quest of the Avatar
- Ultima:
Warriors of Destiny
