Company: Nintendo
Rarity: Pretty Common
Expertise: Beat it
This is a classic. Systems are defined by certain games and this is one of the ones that defines the NES. Metroid is an adventure game where you collect different items and have to beat 3 main bad guys.
Positive attributes:
The cool powerups that you can get to allow rolling, freeze rays, and other cool stuff.
Glaring Defects:
When you start a new game or die you start with so little life that it isn't fun until you stockpile more. This takes quite a while to do and takes a lot of the fun out of the game.
Graphics and Sound: Good
The graphics are pretty good for the NES. Nothing outstanding, but certainly not bad.
Gameplayand Controls: Pretty Good
Very good. Learning some of the more intricate moves can be tricky, but the controls don't slow you down at all.
Fun?: Tons
This is one of the best adventure games out there. It's a ton of fun finding new areas and powerups. The only thing that takes away from the fun is the insanely small amount of health you start with when you die. It can take a half hour just to build up to a playable level. Other than that this is just a great game.
Challenge: Good
This is a pretty challenging game. There are a lot of areas to explore and many powerups to get. Some of the levels are pretty darn hard until you figure out how to get by them.
Features: Quite a Few
There are quite a few different powerups to pick up, not to mention all the life bubbles you will find.
Replay: Depends
It really depends how much you like the game. Once you beat it you can certainly go back through and try to find all the things you missed. Also I'm told there are different endings to the game based on what items you pick up
2 Player: None
There is no two player option in this game.
Online Manual?: Yup
There is an online manual and a very detailed faq available.
Bottom Line: Buy this one
Classic game that's both fun and challenging. One of the must buys for anyone who loves the NES
